WLA launches the “Thousand Schools Alliance” initiative to promote youth science education

On October 31, at the WLF Sci-T Conference of the 3rd World Laureates Forum, the World Laureates Association (WLA) Shanghai Center and East China Normal University jointly launched an initiative to form the World Laureates Forum Youth Education Alliance (abbreviation: WLF Youth Education Alliance).

The Alliance is designed to interest youngsters in science, raise their science awareness and improve their ability to explore, under the guidance of global scientists from the WLA Shanghai Center and experts from major universities including East China Normal University Institute of Science Education (still in preparation). Member schools that join the alliance will be recognized as “practice bases of WLA Science Education Alliance.” Currently, 1,024 primary and secondary schools have become practice bases of WLA Science Education Alliance.

Zhao Zhihao, principal of Shanghai Jianping West Middle School, He Yong, principal of Zhixin High School in Guangzhou, Sun Xili, principal of Jinling High School in Nanjing, Xi Huisuo, principal of Hengshui High School in Hebei Province, Wang Rui, principal of Zhengzhou No. 2 Middle School, Feng Anbao, principal of Hefei No.1 High School, Gao Yanzhong, principal of Hangzhou Yucai Middle School, Xu Xiaowei, principal of Shanghai Daning International Elementary School, attended the conference as representatives of schools as practice bases.

Roger David Kornberg, Chairman of the World Laureates Association, and Michael Levitt, Vice Chairman of the World Laureates Association, awarded plaques to the eight representative schools.
