Q & A with WLA

Q: What is your early inspiration of doing science?
A: Curiosity, Entrepreneurship

Q: Do you have any scientific hero (es)? If so, how did he/she inspire you? 
A: Two types of scientific heroes inspired me a lot: the first type is the pure scientists including Newton and Einstein, whose theories and mindset enlighten my fundamental understanding of our nature; another type is the innovators and entrepreneurs including Edison, Tesla, and Jobs, who designed fabulous engineering products to us.

Q: What is the best advice that you have received?
A: Consistent diligence; Growth mindset; Unity of knowing and doing.

Q: What is your greatest achievement so far?
A: My academic achievements lie in interface chemistry/engineering and development of several multifunctional materials and lightweight composite structures, which can contribute to a sustainable world.

Q: What is your research goal?
A: Solving engineering problems via materials innovation.

Q: What is the best part of your job?
A: When I know my students appreciate what they learnt in my classes or projects;
When we get new findings during the inspirational discussions with students;
When I know that the pilot products developed in our lab can really solve real world problems!
