How Much Does All the SARS-CoV-2 in the World Weigh?
Ron Milo from Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel and other researchers recently calculated that all of the SARS-CoV-2 viruses currently infecting people around the world have a collective mass of somewhere between 0.22 and 22 pounds (the weight of an apple and that of a young toddler).

Small doesn't mean insignificant, however. The virus has now infected more than 176 million people and killed over 3.8 million, according to the Johns Hopkins coronavirus dashboard.
